No smiley face for road signs

Local Councillor Vaughan Moody has called on the Council to activate speeding signs that have been unused for almost two months.

A few years ago the Council agreed to purchase and operate road signs that could be moved from place to place. If a driver went by to fast then a’sad face’ would appear and a ’smiley face’ if he drove at the right speed.

In early April almost two months ago two signs were placed on Buchanan Drive and Milngavie Road respectively. Neither has worked since day one.

Bearsden South Councillor Vaughan Moody said:

“The situation is a bad joke. These signs have not worked for 2 months and it doesn’t appear as if they will be dealt
with anytime soon. Both the Council and the supplier should fix them as soon as possible.

When signs like these were in Ledcameroch Road and Maxwell Avenue they were effective at reducing traffic speed.  Local residents are hoping the signs will be fixed quickly.”
