Jo Swinson MP for East Dunbartonshire has visited local schools to congratulate the winners and runners-up of her annual Christmas card competition. The winners of the Christmas Card competition were chosen by a panel of judges in Bearsden last month.

The winners are:

-       Christmas picture competition (artwork to be printed on card front cover): Louise McKenzie P6A Killermont Primary School

-       Christmas poem competition (poem to be printed inside Christmas card): Jack Gilkes P5 Clober Primary School

Prizes for the competition have been kindly donated by Milngavie Bookshop. The two winners will each be awarded a £20 book token.

The runners up were:

-       Mark Strang P1 Lairdsland Primary School and On-May Yeung P7 Woodhill Primary School (artwork)

-       Rosie Willis P6 Clober Primary School and Callum MacDonald P3 Bearsden Primary School  (poetry)

The two runners up in each category will each receive a £10 token.

Joining Jo in the judging of the hundreds of entries sent in by local school pupils were Susan Frize owner of Milngavie Bookshop and local photographer Gavin Ritchie.

Commenting Jo said:

“Well done to Jack and Louise! Their picture and poem will look fabulous on the finished product.

“As always it was a very difficult decision as there were so many excellent entries. This year’s theme ‘Christmas in the Commonwealth’ had pupils from schools across East Dunbartonshire show just how much artistic talent is in our local area.

“With the card being sent out to more than a thousand local groups and individuals, so many people will be able to enjoy their talents as well.

“I’d also like to thank the competition’s sponsors Susan Frize at Milngavie Bookshop and Alan Oliver at Aroprint.”
