East Dunbartonshire MP Jo Swinson has welcomed the news that 900 local companies have taken advantage of a Government scheme to help businesses and boost jobs.
The Employment Allowance was introduced in April 2014, and offers employers a £2,000 cut in their National Insurance bill, which can be used to hire new staff or invest in the company. Jo is delighted that in just 6 months, 900 businesses in East Dunbartonshire have signed up to the scheme.
“The Employment Allowance is another great example of the Government’s achievements in supporting small businesses by getting them hiring more staff and contributing more to local economies.
“As a Business Minister I am delighted to see local job creators benefiting from this support. Unemployment is at a 9 year low in East Dunbartonshire, at just 1.3%, and measures like this are why half of local employers recently told me they plan to recruit new staff in the next year.
