‘Tell Us Once’ Birth and Bereavement Service rolled out in East Dunbartonshire

Local MP Jo Swinson wants constituents to know about a service that reduces stress at a difficult time

East Dunbartonshire has signed up to the Tell Us Once service that lets customers notify a range of central and local government services quickly and cheaply about a birth or a death. Organisations like the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency, Identity and Passport Service and HM Revenue and Customs are all informed in one go. The registrar asks the customer, in person or over the telephone, which authorities need to be contacted and then does this for them electronically.

Commenting Jo said:

“Dealing with a birth or death is one of the most important things that families face. The last thing anyone wants is to have to make dozens of phone calls to update records. Tell Us Once gets rid of dreaded red tape at a time when people could use simplicity and I urge residents to use this straightforward notification tool.”

“The Coalition Government was right to give the green light to turn this pilot project into a reality.”
