Recently, a Scottish Government-appointed Reporter ruled in favour of Cala in their bid to build a controversial new development at Jellyhill in Bishopbriggs
I am very disappointed at this decision, and very angry at the way it was reached.
The SNP Scottish Government Reporter simply ignored the unanimous wish of the council for Cala's appeal to make a decision following a Public Hearing.
There were a record-breaking number of objectors who are concerned by the scale of this development. For the Reporter to effectively decide the outcome privately is an insult to them and to local democracy.
This case shows an imbalance of power and rights between applicants and residents. This is an issue the SNP Scottish Government must address.
I feel sorry for the residents who fought a professional and dignified campaign. I am disappointed it now appears to have been in vain.
Cala can still engage with residents more than they have until now. Even though they won their appeal, I hope they will take the objectors' concerns on board, even now.
