Jo Swinson MP and local residents have been campaigning against the naming of Low Moss Prison to “Bishopbriggs Prison”. The campaign has been backed by Scottish Lib Dem Leader Tavish Scott MSP and Lib Dem Shadow Chancellor Vince Cable MP. UPDATE: Victory for the campaign.

Local people are angry that this name change has happened, when the Low Moss name has served perfectly well for more than 40 years.
Not only were the wishes of the local community ignored about building a new prison on the site, but to add insult to injury the plans will now mean that the good name of Bishopbriggs will become associated with a prison.
How you can help fight against the change
