Congratulations are due to the Addiction Recovery Centre in Kirkintilloch for winning the 2012 Dods Local Charity of the Year Award.
Local MP Jo Swinson attended the ceremony in London as Stewart Savage and Seamus Harkin accepted the award on the organisation's behalf. The Awards took place on Wednesday 27th June and were hosted by Mr Speaker in the Speakers Apartments in the House of Commons.
The Addiction Recovery Centre in Kirkintilloch was nominated by Jo in the local charity category for the support they provide to those suffering from an addiction and their families across the whole of East Dunbartonshire and part of North Lanarkshire local authority area.
In their ninth year, the Dods Charity Champion Awards celebrate a really positive side of politics. The awards help charities to get their voices heard in the political arena and to promote their special contribution to improving places and lives. In addition the awards provide a platform for the voluntary sector to pay tribute to parliamentarians who promote charitable causes and campaigns in Parliament, to constituents and across the country.
Commenting Jo Swinson said:
"What a truly worthy organisation to take home this award.
"I am sure the East Dunbartonshire community will join me in offering my congratulations.
"We should be proud that this inspirational, and award-winning group, is based right here.
