Jo urges local businesses to enter Responsible Business Awards

Jo Swinson MP for East Dunbartonshire is calling on local businesses to nominate themselves for a new award that recognises companies making a positive contribution to the communities they work in.

The All-Party Parliamentary Corporate Responsibility Group (APCRG) has launched the MPs’ Constituency Award for Responsible Business and are looking to identify a Responsible Business Champion for every UK constituency, nominated by their MP. The awards contest is free to enter and suitable for businesses of all sizes and in all sectors.

Responsible businesses:

-          Support the local community, such as local schools

-          Offer young people work opportunities

-          Train employees

-          Invest in energy efficiency

-          Promote equality and diversity in the workplace

-          Monitor suppliers’ action on these issues

Commenting Jo said:

“I know many businesses in East Dunbartonshire are doing excellent work across the constituency to contribute both to the local economy and the wider community. This is a fantastic way to recognise the achievements of inspirational businesses who are giving something back.

“Any business or constituent can send nominations by email with Responsible Business as the subject to jo.swinson.mp@parliament.uk with a few lines on why that business should be the Constituency Champion. All nominations must be received by midnight on 27 February.

“I’ll be choosing a Constituency Champion from amongst the nominations and all Constituency Champions have the chance to go on and become the National Business Champion as selected by the APCRG judging panel. The national winner will be presented with their award at a reception in the summer.”
