Jo Swinson MP for East Dunbartonshire visited the Royal Mail sorting office in Milngavie on Friday to see first-hand the staff’s hard work during the busy festive period.
Jo toured the sorting office with Delivery Manager Hugh Paton, who introduced her to the office’s team.
The sorting office in Milngavie sorts tens of thousands of items of mail every day during the Christmas holidays, before handing them over to local postmen and women for deliveries.
Commenting, Jo Swinson said:
“It was lovely to meet the Royal Mail staff at the sorting office in Milngavie.
“Their daily efforts at this time of year to deal with such large amounts of post mean our cards and presents reach us safely and in time for Christmas morning.
“Every year, our hard-working postmen and women get the job done and bring smiles to faces across Britain. I wish the staff the very best for Christmas and the New Year.”

Hugh Paton, Royal Mail Delivery Office Manager at Milngavie, said: “Christmas is the busiest time of year for Royal Mail. Our people pull out all the stops throughout the year to ensure mail is delivered quickly, but even more so over the busy festive period. We are grateful that Jo Swinson MP came along to see the hard work that goes on behind the scenes.”
“Our people do a fantastic job at this time of year to ensure that friends and families stay in touch through their Christmas greetings and gifts. We’d like to remind our customers to post early so that friends and family have longer to enjoy their Christmas greetings!”
