Jo Swinson MP for East Dunbartonshire is welcoming yesterday's announcement that walking paths and tourist routes, including the West Highland Way, are to be improved as a result of a funding boost.
The Scottish Government is granting £3.15 million to Forestry Commission Scotland, including £750,000 to help improve parts of the famous West Highland Way long distance trail and associated routes.
Commenting Jo said:
"The West Highland Way, one of the most popular long distance walks in the world, starts in Milngavie's precinct so I welcome any improvements that will bring more tourists to our lovely town and boost business.
"While these funds are for Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park they'll impact on numbers through our town centre.
"Along with the 2014 Commonwealth Games which are just around the corner now is the perfect time to sell East Dunbartonshire as a great tourism destination."
