East Dunbartonshire MP Jo Swinson is calling on local people to give their views on further powers for the Scottish Parliament.
The Smith Commission was set up following the ‘No’ vote in the independence referendum, and is tasked with agreeing proposals for more devolution to the Scottish Parliament.
Anyone can submit a proposal to the Commission before the deadline of 5pm on 31st October. There are 3 ways people can submit proposals:
1) Via e-mail: firstname.lastname@example.org
2) On the webpage: www.smith-commission.scot/have-your-say/
3) By post: The Smith Commission, 7th Floor, 144 Morrison Street, EH3 8EX
“During the referendum, the Prime Minister, Deputy Prime Minister and leader of the Labour Party made a promise that further powers will be granted to the Scottish Parliament. These will be delivered, and I encourage local people to get involved in shaping which new powers will come to Holyrood.
“We all saw the huge levels of engagement with the referendum, none more so than in East Dunbartonshire, with our fantastic turnout of 91%. Let’s keep that positive interest in Scotland’s future going. I want as many local people as possible to offer their views on the further powers for Scotland.”
“I will be keeping people updated with the progress of these new powers on my website (joswinson.org.uk/morepowers). I will also be providing a summary of the views local people have sent me on this issue.”
