Jo Swinson MP for East Dunbartonshire is encouraging parents to take advantage of two free in-car safety clinics in the local area where parents will be given advice and guidance on how to make sure their children are buckled up and safe
Now in its 12th year the Scottish Good Egg In-Car Safety Campaign is designed to ensure that babies and children are properly restrained while travelling in the car. Experts will be on hand at ASDA Bearsden on Friday 2 August from 10am-3pm and at ASDA Bishopbriggs on Monday 5 August from 10am-3pm. Last year, 66 car seats were checked locally as part of the campaign – of those 33 were correctly fitted, 19 had minor faults, 12 had major faults and 2 were incompatible.
Commenting Jo said:
“I hope as many parents as possible take advantage of this opportunity for a free in-car check to make sure their children are strapped in safely.
“The selection of an appropriate car seat and its proper fitting is vital to protect your child, should your car be involved in a road accident.
“You can find advice on buying a car seat and a comprehensive retailer charter by visiting the Scottish Good Egg website athttp://www.protectchild.co.uk/”
