Jo Swinson MP for East Dunbartonshire met with members of the Redeeming Our Communities planning team to discuss what’s next for Lenzie and Kirkintilloch
Jo recently met with Suze Bickerton and Sergeant Shona MacKay of Strathclyde Police (Safer Communities) from the charity group Redeeming our Communities (ROC), which has outlets and partnerships across the UK, about the group’s plans to extend projects into the local area.
The Lenzie and Kirkintilloch planning group met towards the end of last year with 80 members of the community including police officers, Councillors, fire service personnel and voluntary services to discuss what could be done to bring together people of goodwill to work towards a safer, kinder community. Jo caught up with members of the group at the Lenzie Union Parish Church while they planned a community safety awareness presentation. “Who’s Ringing Your Bell?” will take place at Lenzie Union Parish Church between 2pm and 4pm on Thursday 8th March. It is free and includes afternoon tea. The group also hopes to hold a similar event in Bearsden in the future. For more information on ROC locally please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Commenting Jo Swinson said:
“It was good to hear about the great work that ROC already does around the country, and what they’re hoping to do in this area. A greater sense of community spirit can go a long way towards crime and disorder reduction and enhanced community spirit and I applaud their efforts.”

“ROC has done fantastic work in communities across England and we are excited to be bringing their ethos to Scotland with this event and others”
