Last week local MP Jo Swinson joined Head Teacher Garry Graham of Auchinairn Primary School, Fiona McLeod MSP and Margaret McDougall MSP for the Families and Schools Together (FAST) graduation project.
The award-winning project is run through Save the Children and helps kids get a better start in life.
FAST is an early intervention and prevention programme which is designed to strengthen family bonds. Jo was able to see families participate in a FAST session, and speak to parents who have participated in the programme before each family took to the stage to receive their certificate.
Commenting Jo Swinson said:
“Enabling parents to better support their children’s education, take a more active role in their child’s school and in the community in general is key for a better future for East Dunbartonshire.
“Auchinairn is one of the first schools in Scotland to run this fantastic programme and it was wonderful to see this project in action and congratulate parents and children as they graduated.”
