East Dunbartonshire MP Jo Swinson began her Road to Referendum campaign with two successful public meetings in Bearsden and Kirkintilloch this week.
The Road to Referendum campaign sees Jo holding a series of local public meetings to provide people with an opportunity to get their questions on Scottish independence answered.
Topics under discussion in the first meetings included defence spending, Scotland’s EU membership and future devolved powers.
Speaking after the meetings, Jo said:
“We are now less than 4 months away from the biggest decision the Scottish people will make in our lifetimes. Before local residents go to the ballot box on September 18th I want them to be as well informed as possible about the choices we face, which is why I decided to hold these open meetings.
“Last week we enjoyed some spirited debates and I hope those who attended left with more information and the answers they needed. I am looking forward to continuing the discussions at the War Memorial Hall in Bishopbriggs on Friday 6th June at 7pm. Please do bring friends and family along and spread the word about this meeting.”
