Jo meets Morrisons representatives for assurances on meaningful consultation

Jo Swinson MP has commented on her meeting with Morrisons on 25th March about the Bishopbriggs town centre site:

“Morrisons have assured me that the Bishopbriggs plans will not move forward until they have let local people have a say, and told me they were currently dealing with some technical issues ahead of the three-month consultation period.

“It is vital that the supermarket commits to engagement with the community, and I pressed Morrisons on the importance of listening to taking residents’ concerns into account, especially given the history of local people being kept in the dark about the latest developments and decisions. There will be a meeting next month between the consultation group and council and community representatives, and I hope the level of community involvement will be made clear so that a meaningful consultation can go forward.”
