Jo Swinson, MP for East Dunbartonshire, recently visited the Royal Mail sorting offices in Bishopbriggs and Milngavie to witness first-hand the hard work that goes into the busy festive period
Jo toured the sorting office in Milngavie with Manager Hugh Paton on Friday and the office in Bishopbriggs with Manager Brian Mitchell on Saturday.
The sorting office in Milngavie sorts and delivers 160,000 items of mail every week during the run up to Christmas while the office in Bishopbriggs sorts over 1 million items of mail during the Christmas period. The huge mailbags are then delivered by local postmen and women across the area.
Commenting, Jo Swinson said:
“It is always a pleasure to meet the hard-working staff at our local sorting offices. Their daily efforts at this time of year to deal with such large amounts of post mean our cards and presents reach us safely and in time for Christmas morning unwrapping.
“Year after year, our hard-working postmen and women continue to get the job done, and I wish the staff the very best for Christmas and the New Year.”
