Jo praises ASDA for launch of Community Life Initiative

Jo Swinson, local MP for East Dunbartonshire, visited ASDA Bearsden on Friday to learn about the launch of a new initiative called Community Life.

As part of the programme ASDA Bearsden will have more funds and more autonomy to work towards making the local community a better place to live.

Jo met with Community Life Champion William Smith and General Store Manager Danny McCabe to learn more about how local groups and residents can benefit.

Commenting Jo Swinson said:

“The Community Life Initiative has opened up a number of great opportunities for residents.

“They have made office space available to local community groups to hold meetings, and have created ‘Chosen by You, Given By Us’ which lets customers choose the local causes ASDA financially supports.

“The store is also focussed on getting young people into jobs by providing opportunities and skills.

“The brand new notice board at the front of the store has news on all these opportunities, and William, the Community Champion, is also available to speak to customers and answer any questions.

“I would urge local groups and organisations to get in touch and take advantage of what’s on offer, either in person or by calling 0141 931 7900.”
