Local MP Jo Swinson was at the launch of Milngavie as a 'Dementia Friendly Community' last weekend
Organised by Alzheimer Scotland the fun-filled event featured live entertainment and a 'memory' bus for the public to get information about dementia and the services that Alzheimer Scotland offer within East Dunbartonshire.
As a Dementia Friendly Community local businesses will receive information to increase their understanding of dementia and receive training on dementia awareness from an Alzheimer Scotland staff member. They will then be given a sticker for their shop window by Alzheimer Scotland to show they are "Dementia Friendly".
Commenting, Jo said:
"I hope that all communities across East Dunbartonshire will take steps to increase public understanding and become more dementia friendly.
"With an ageing population dementia is one of the biggest challenges we face and we should all do our part to increase our understanding of Alzheimer's."
