Jo has criticised East Dunbartonshire Council’s failure to properly consult local residents over plans to site a drug outreach clinic in a residential of Bishopbriggs.
The clinic, proposed to be sited at Brackenbrae House, would issue prescriptions to drug users and provide counselling and support for people with drug and alcohol problems. Local residents have already condemned the lack of any proper consultation by the council. It has now emerged that local police had not been informed of the plans.
Commenting, Jo said:
“While I support any measure which will help to rehabilitate drug users, this proposal clearly hasn’t been properly thought through. Local people living close to Brackenbrae House must be consulted before a decision is made on where the new clinic should be established.
“I hope that East Dunbartonshire Council will rethink this proposal and accept that other premises, not in solely residential areas, might be more suitable.”
