Jo visits Bishopbriggs Academy

Bishopbriggs Academy visit

Jo Swinson MP has paid a visit to S3 pupils at Bishopbriggs Academy.

As part of their democracy module, the classes held an event to discuss current affairs topics with Jo, including the situation in Libya, the upcoming referendum on the Alternative Vote and gun control. The discussion was chaired and recorded by pupils, who also quizzed Jo on her role as East Dunbartonshire’s MP.

Commenting, Jo Swinson said:

“I really enjoyed answering Bishopbriggs Academy’s questions and participating in political discussion and debate. The pupils raised all kinds of important issues, from military action in Libya to bullying on Facebook and school transport. It was a pleasure to hear their views and I hope the experience was a useful addition to their current political studies.”
