Local Liberal Democrats have welcomed the compromise reached between East Dunbartonshire Council officials and trade unions regarding the council's redundancy framework, which has led to proposed industrial action being called off.
Lib Dem councillor and joint leader of the council Vaughan Moody commented:
"The Council has now agreed with the Trade Unions to a radically changed Redundancy framework which takes account of the
changing world we live in. There is also now a way to ensure that this new framework will change in the future on a regular basis.
This new framework takes account of the need for the Council and employees to change and adapt while taking account of the fact that it is the tax payer that foots the bill."
