Jo paid a visit yesterday to Milngavie Book Shop to join in celebrations of World Book Day.
Milngavie Book Shop, which has recently expanded into the adjacent unit on Douglas Street, held story-telling sessions for children yesterday to mark the occasion. Jo joined the children in listening to a traditional Celtic story, and caught up with shop manager Susan Frize.
Next week, on Wednesday 11th March from 7pm, the shop will host the launch of ‘The Colours of Mugdock’, a book of photographs by Melanie Sims and Malcolm Lindsay depicting Mugdock Country Park. The shop is also involved in organising the Milngavie Book and Arts Festival, which will take place on 3rd – 6th September 2009.
Commenting, Jo said:
“It is encouraging that while many independent book shops are closing down, leaving only chain stores, Milngavie Book Shop is going strong. They are really good at ordering in books very quickly, and have also been really active in showcasing local talent. I look forward to seeing what they have planned for the Milngavie Book and Arts Festival this year.”
