Following Muse’s sale of the Bishopbriggs town centre redevelopment land to Morrisons last month, local MP Jo has met with the supermarket chain to discuss community involvement in the plans.
Jo asked Guy Mason from Morrisons to reassure residents that public engagement will be instigated in a meaningful way, stressing local people’s serious concerns about increased traffic and changes to the current character of the town centre.
Mr Mason said that Morrisons would shortly be opening up a three-month consultation period to the public.
Commenting, Jo said:
“I welcomed the constructive meeting with Morrisons yesterday, pressing the need for meaningful engagement with the public. Local people felt left out of the process for too long during Muse’s negotiations, so it is a priority now that their views are sought and included.
“Morrisons will be holding a three-month consultation before going forward with their plans. I have requested a meeting with the person in charge to ensure that there will be as wide an opportunity as possible for Bishopbriggs residents to make their voices heard on this matter.”
