Jo comments on Milngavie BID decision

Commenting on the news than Milngavie businesses backed plans to turn the precinct into a Business Improvement District Jo said:

“It’s fantastic that Milngavie precinct will become a Business Improvement District.

“Now local businesses will have a greater say in how the town centre is managed in order to increase footfall and improve the individuality and the appearance of the village. It will help bring more businesses, jobs and vitality to the town.

“Congratulations to Ian Lavrie and the rest of the BID steering group who have worked tirelessly on this ballot and the one in 2011.  I look forward to seeing the BID come into being for the benefit of our community.”

Jo encourages local schools and groups to register for Sainsbury’s Active Kids 2014

Jo Swinson MP for East Dunbartonshire has welcomed the launch of Sainsbury’s Active Kids 2014 voucher scheme. Over the years the support of Sainsbury’s customers and colleagues in East Dunbartonshire has led to over £90,000 worth of Active Kids equipment and experiences being donated to schools and organisations in he area.

Scotland’s new businesses help to build a stronger economy – Jo

Local MP Jo Swinson has welcomed the increased number of new businesses created in Scotland.  Figures posted last week by the Federation of Small Businesses show that in 2013 more than 400 new businesses were set up in the East Dunbartonshire area with 30,000 new businesses created in Scotland – an increase of 19% from 2012.

Local MP Jo Swinson has launched a survey of 1900 businesses in East Dunbartonshire asking how she can help them grow and take on more staff. The surveys were sent out this week and responses will feed in ideas to help grow the local economy.
