Liberal Democrat Joint Leader of the Council, Cllr Vaughan Moody, welcomed plans to build a new nursery for around 90 children on the site of St Joseph’s Primary School in Milngavie which is closing at the end of this session.
“This is part of the Council's plans for expansion of early learning and childcare. In reaching this decision, we have tried to take account of a full range of factors including our best understanding of community interests. I am pleased that the St Joseph’s Primary School site will continue to be used for the benefit of our children. Pupils currently at St Joseph’s will be looking forward to their move to the new St Nicholas Primary School. ”
The rest of the site will give the Council options for the future which could include, for example, the development of a modern, purpose built, community health and well-being centre.
