Education has remained a priority for the local Lib Dem team here in East Dunbartonshire.
Earlier this year the Council approved its Budget for East Dunbartonshire and with it a new and
ambitious 10 Year Capital Programme.
The new programme delivers a major expansion of local facilities across the area, including a
commitment to build a new £30 million Boclair Academy.
Work is expected to start in July next year and could take around 18 months to complete.
Councillor Vaughan Moody, Joint Council Leader, said: "Parents have been rightly concerned about the deteriorating condition of parts of the current school and I am sure that they, and the staff and pupils, will very much welcome this exciting news."
Meanwhile, the Joint Administration is proposing a programme of refurbishment to address the most pressing concerns regarding the current school, such as security issues and the condition of the toilets.
