Jo Swinson MP for East Dunbartonshire has welcomed the news that Deafblind Scotland has received a Heritage Lottery Fund award of £46,400.
The funds were awarded in order for the Lenzie-based organisation to carry out a Scottish Heritage project in the constituency.
The project will focus on the history and cultural traditions of deaf blindness in Scotland, researching the disability worldwide and gathering individual Scottish stories.
Commenting Jo said:
“Well done to Deafblind Scotland.
“The project will promote awareness of deaf blindness in the local area and will be a chance for deaf blind volunteers participating in the project to share their stories and engage with the community.”
“This follows the good news that they now own land in order to build a new £1.3 million Training and Resource centre dubbed the ‘Field of Dreams’ in Lenzie for Scotland’s deaf blind community.
