Congratulations to Marie Curie Cancer Care – Jo

Jo Swinson, local MP for East Dunbartonshire, was at ASDA Bishopbriggs last Friday as the first Community Life Initiative charity winner, Marie Curie Cancer Care, was announced.

ASDA also announced a change to the scheme that will see charities nominated in three categories – health, education, and eco-environment.

ASDA is running the Community Life initiative in stores across the country. As part of the scheme local charities are able to nominate themselves to receive a £200 donation from ASDA. Local residents can then go in store and vote for their favourite charity with tokens they receive at the checkout.

Commenting Jo Swinson said:

“Many congratulations to Marie Curie Cancer for receiving the £200 donation. It’s very well-deserved, not least because so many people have personal experience of the wonderful care they provide to loved ones, including at the new Marie Curie hospice in Bishopbriggs.

“ASDA’s Community Life Initiative has opened up a great opportunity for local organisations.

“I would urge local charities to get involved and nominate themselves in the scheme. There are three categories: health, education and eco-environment.
