The latest economic growth figures from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) confirm that Britain is on the road to recovery, says local MP Jo Swinson.
The IMF projections show that Britain will be the fastest growing economy in the G7 nations this year. The economy is projected to grow 2.9% in 2014 and 2.5% in 2015.
Speaking after the release of these figures, Jo stressed caution but also praised the Government’s economic plan:
“The last few years have been hard for many people up and down Britain and in East Dunbartonshire. Whilst we still have a long way to go to reduce our national debt, this Government has put Britain back on the road to economic recovery.
“The Liberal Democrats have played a major role in Britain’s economic upturn. When tough decisions needed to be made we have not walked away from our responsibilities. We can be proud to be part of a Government that has created over a million private sector jobs and lowered income tax this week for over 26 million workers across Britain.”
