Flight Path Consultation Means More Noise

Local Lib Dems have criticised the recent consultation on flight paths run by Glasgow Airport.

Local MP Jo Swinson has lodged a formal opposition to the airport’s proposals after she was contacted by many constituents regarding both their concern at the potential increase in noise and the way the consultation itself was carried out.

Lib Dem Cllr Rosie O’Neil commented “I attended one of Glasgow Airport’s drop-in consultation sessions with Jo Swinson, along with more than 400 local people. Whilst some residents were happy with the proposed changes to departures that come their way, others were unhappy to 'share the pain', even though most arrivals that fly low over Bearsden would continue as before.

“My concern is whether Glasgow Airport plans to use these changes as a way of increasing the number of flights over a highly populated area. I hope that the next stage of the consultation can engage more proactively with all residents.”
