Jo Swinson MP for East Dunbartonshire paid a visit to the Friendship Circle last week. The group provides an opportunity for housebound elderly people in the Milngavie area to meet up each week and have lunch, chat with friends and take day trips.
The club is run entirely by volunteers and was founded 21 years ago by Jennifer Donald who became a Medallist of the British Empire for her services to older people in the area in the Queen’s 2013 New Years Honours List.
Commenting Jo Swinson said:
“I had a lovely time visiting the Friendship Circle and enjoyed chatting to local residents and volunteers.
“Jennifer and her volunteers continue to be an inspiration to us all. The Friendship Circle is an important resource and it makes such a difference to the quality of life for some of Milngavie’s older residents.”
