Jo attends listening group for local mums

Local MP Jo Swinson sat down with mums last week at the ASDA Bearsden Mumdex listening group to talk about the realities of the changing economic landscape.

Over 5,500 real mums of all ages across the UK signed up to be part of the ASDA Mumdex panel to discuss the pressures their families may be facing.  They published their first report in February and hold regular listening groups with mums at local stores like the one in Bearsden.

Commenting, Jo Swinson said:

It was very enlightening to hear direct the group of local mums talk about their concerns about the daily cost of living and challenges of parenthood.

“It’s clear that rising prices are a major concern for families, that’s why we’ve slashed income tax bills by £600 a year, up to £700 next year, for millions of low and middle income families.

“The Mumdex report earlier this year found that two-thirds wanted the planned 3p-a-litre rise in fuel duty scrapped which the Coalition Government did at the last budget.

While Scottish mums are generally more optimistic about their quality of life and their household finances than the UK average, there is always more to be done and listening groups like area a good way to hear local concerns.”
