Jo celebrates World School Milk Day with Bearsden children

Jo with children at Mosshead pre-school and nursery

Swapping question time for milk time, Jo Swinson MP called in a local nursery to celebrate World School Milk Day.

Visiting Mosshead pre-school and playgroup in Bearsden ahead of the United Nations’ World School Milk Day, Jo lent a hand with milk monitoring duties.

Celebrated globally on Wednesday, 28th September, World School Milk Day aims to encourage children to drink more milk – giving them healthy bones and teeth. School milk is currently free in the UK for children under the age of five in primary education.

Commenting, Jo said:

“I was delighted to help out with milk monitoring duties at Mosshead ahead of World School Milk Day 2011. School milk is a brilliant way of improving kids’ diets and helping them to adopt healthy lifestyles, as well as encouraging all-important social skills by bringing children together for a dedicated time each day to enjoy their milk.

“The children at Mosshead were certainly big fans of their daily milk, and equally proud of their milk moustaches!”
