Jo joins local opposition to 118 bus changes

Jo met Bearsden residents angered by timetable changes to the 118 bus service.

Local residents shared their concerns with Jo at Bearsden Cross bus stop, where the 118 bus service no longer stops after 7pm, Monday to Saturday. The service’s Saturday frequency has decreased to once an hour, and it has been completely withdrawn on Sundays.

Following vocal opposition to the revised timetable from the Bearsden community, Jo has written to First Bus and is meeting with Managing Director Ronnie Park next month to discuss the impact of the changes.

Commenting, Jo said:

“It was clear from meeting concerned local people that these changes affect a wide section of the community – from students and those who work in Glasgow to elderly residents and people socialising at the weekend.

“I will be asking First Bus Managing Director Ronnie Park to consider the impact the service alterations have had on the community when we meet, and if he will reconsider the decision to cut off such a vital transport link for Bearsden.”
