Jo Swinson recently visited the Royal Mail sorting office in Bearsden to see first hand the staff’s hard work during the busy festive period.
Jo toured the sorting office with Manager Frank Montigue, who introduced her to the office’s team.
The sorting office in Bearsden sorts around 50,000 items of mail every day during the Christmas holidays, before handing them over to local postmen and women for deliveries. The huge mailbags recently peaked with the effect of adverse weather conditions and the subsequent backlog of post.
Commenting, Jo said:
“It was a pleasure to meet the hard-working staff at Bearsden sorting office last week. Their daily efforts at this time of year to deal with such large amounts of mail mean our cards and presents reach us safely and in time for Christmas.
“Despite the difficulties the snow and huge backlogs have presented, the sorting office continues to get the job done, and I wish the staff the very best for Christmas and the New Year.”
