Jo’s 2013 Summer Tour Wraps Up

Local MP Jo Swinson wrapped up her summer tour on Wednesday after having visited more than 40 different locations around East Dunbartonshire to speak with local people and hold impromptu street surgeries.

Jo and her team met hundreds of people over six days touring the heart of local communities with visits to schools, shops, sheltered housing, stations and other landmarks to hear what local residents had to say.

The summer tour comes in addition to Jo’s surgeries where constituents come along and discuss issues she may be able to help with.

Commenting Jo said:

“My summer tour is always a great way to get out and meet even more of the people I represent who don’t always have an urgent matter to talk about but simply want to let me know how they feel about how things are going locally.

“People can feel disconnected from Parliament and I love speaking to them about the issues they care about and how what happens in Westminster impacts their lives.

“This year’s tour saw a great turnout and thankfully not too much rain!  People raised issues from school mergers to supermarket developments, and from the state of the roads to the state pension.

“Getting out and meeting local residents is such an important part of my job as East Dunbartonshire’s MP.  I’m hoping the new people I’ve met will feel free to get in touch if they want to raise a concern or if I can be of help, by post, telephone or email: [email protected].”
