First of all, congratulations to John. This is a wonderful job, and a fantastic constituency, and I wish you well in serving East Dunbartonshire.
I'd like to say thank you, to everyone who supported me, and I recognise in particular the many people had not done so before. Thanks also to my amazing team of staff and volunteers - you've been brilliant.
This is not our night.
Obviously it is a huge disappointment, especially not to be returning to Parliament as a Scottish voice in favour of Scotland remaining in the United Kingdom.
I knew when we went into government after the last election that it might make it impossible for me to win again.
I still believe it was the right thing to do. We gave the country stability at a time of financial crisis, and I'm proud that Britain is now on the road to economic recovery.
I'm lucky to have had the opportunity to make a difference nationally - clamping down on payday lenders, legislating for pay transparency, and introducing shared parental leave. And above all, it has been a huge privilege to represent East Dunbartonshire. Thank you for 10 wonderful years.
