Jo Swinson will launch Liberal Youth Scotland at Glasgow University this Saturday (12th April).
This follows Nick Clegg’s recent UK-wide launch of Liberal Youth, the youth wing of the Liberal Democrats.
Commenting ahead of the launch, Jo said:
“More than ever, we need to hear the voice of young people in politics. Trust in politicians is low, as is election turnout. It is up to politicians to show that we can listen to young people on the political issues that they care about.
“One of the policies that first attracted me to the Liberal Democrats as a student was the penny on income tax for education. This, along with policies like our stance against the Iraq War, has meant that the Liberal Democrats have long been the party most attractive to young people.
“That is why I am delighted to be launching Liberal Youth. By re-invigorating the youth wing of the Liberal Democrats in Scotland, we are giving young people a way of bringing their ideas and talents to the future of our party.”
The Liberal Youth Scotland launch is taking place in the John McIntyre Building of Glasgow University at 2pm on Saturday 12th April. For more details about the launch, email [email protected].
