East Dunbartonshire MP Jo Swinson today warned that missed appointments at local hospitals are wasting resources and putting services under real strain.
Jo was speaking as new figures revealed that 225,067 appointments were missed over the last year in NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde hospitals.
Across Scotland there were more than 800,000 missed appointments in the last year. Figures revealed that non-attendance rates were as high as 12% in Tayside, 11% in Fife and 10% in Lothian.
Commenting, Jo said:
“With our NHS creaking under SNP mismanagement, our doctors and nurses cannot afford to spend their time waiting for patients to turn up for appointments that have been forgotten.
“In local hospitals, more than 225,000 appointments were missed last year, which is a huge waste of time and money. This is time that could have been spent on helping other patients.”
