Jo visits local business to drum up support for ‘Get East Dunbartonshire Working’

Local MP Jo Swinson is continuing her endeavours to get local residents back into work as part of the Get East Dunbartonshire Working initiative.

Jo took advantage of the parliamentary recess period to visit businesses in the constituency and get them to sign up to the programme. Recent visits included East Dunbartonshire’s largest employer Aviva with Scotland Secretary Mike Moore, Ferrymill Motors in Torrance, Exchange Communications in Kirkintilloch and McGavigan’s in Bishopbriggs.

Commenting Jo said:

“I am eager to visit local businesses to drum up support for this important campaign to get more local people into jobs. Their feedback so far has been really positive and without them this initiative would never get off the ground.

“Creating job or training opportunities like this is not just good for young people, it’s good for business too.

“The Liberal Democrats are determined to help young people get into work or training before the scarring effect of long term unemployment hits their confidence and future job prospects.”

“We’ve already found opportunities for 36 people. Please contact me today if your business wants to join in the challenge at 0141 762 2209
