Robin House, only one of two hospices in Scotland that care for children, is run by the Children’s Hospice Association Scotland (CHAS). The charity provides hospice services for young people with life-shortening conditions and offers support to their families.

Jo was shown around by CHAS staff Anna Jackson and Director of care at Robin House, Libby Gold. She met patients and their families, before chatting to the Slattery family from Bearsden who use the hospice for 3 year-old daughter Ciara, suffering from the heart condition Neonatal Merfans Syndrome.

Commenting, Jo said:

“It was a real privilege to visit Robin House and see what a warm and comfortable environment the dedicated staff have created for children. The provision of such expert care means that families are able to relax and make the most of each day together, which really lightens the stresses and strains of caring for a sick child.

“Meeting the Slattery family from Bearsden and young hospice user Ciara was a real reminder that we are very lucky to have such a fantastic facility on our doorstep.”
