Jo welcomes local Big Lottery Young Start Funds

Two local groups, the Volunteer Centre – East Dunbartonshire and Reality Adventure Works in Scotland Limited, have been on the receiving end of grants money that will go towards life changing programmes for young people.

The groups have received funds from Big Lottery Fund's Young Start programme. Young Start is targeted at creating opportunities for children and young people aged between 8 and 24 to help realise their potential, seeing them go on to achieve wonderful things.

Commenting Jo said:

"Young Start is all about boosting confidence, getting connected, staying healthy and promoting enterprise amongst young people.

"The grant to the Volunteer Centre will provide opportunities for young people attending secondary school in our area to develop more life skills, promote volunteering within their local area and achieve recognised volunteer awards.

"Reality Adventure Works in Scotland Limited will use their grant to provide young people with the opportunity to train as junior leaders at levels 1, 2 and 3. Participants will learn how to support others in a range of outdoor activities such as, canoeing, climbing and orienteering.

"These are fantastic opportunities for the community and everyone involved is to be congratulated."
