Lib Dems Welcome Strikes Halt

Local Liberal Democrats have welcomed Trade Unions' decision to call off strikes which were planned for four days last week.

Joint Leader of the Council, Lib Dem Councillor Vaughan Moody said "I am glad to see the unions are prepared to work with the council to reach a mutually satisfactory conclusion. The money given to East Dunbartonshire Council by the SNP Government at Holyrood has caused the administration to make difficult decisions, but I am relieved that we have once again entered into productive talks with the unions which will enable us to work out a lasting compromise."
