Local talent shines through as Christmas Card winners chosen

The winners of Jo Swinson's 2012 Christmas Card competition were chosen by a panel of judges in Bearsden this month.

The winners are:

Christmas poem competition (poem to be printed inside Christmas card): Emma McFarlane, P7, from Clober Primary

Prizes for the competition have been kindly donated by Milngavie Bookshop. The two winners will each be awarded a £20 book token.

The runners up were:

Finlay Jamieson and Amy Auld, both P5B from Milngavie Primary (artwork)

Andrew McConnell, 1A from Douglas Academy and Eilidh McDaid 1A from Douglas academy (poetry)

The four runners up in each category will each receive a £10 token.

Joining Jo in the judging of the hundreds of entries sent in by local school pupils were Isobel Paton (Bearsden Art Club), Ivan Draper (Milngavie Art Club), and Chris Ravenhall (Strathkelvin Writers).

Commenting Jo Swinson said:

"Well done to Jonathan and Emma! I look forward to seeing their picture and poem on the finished product.

"With the card being sent out to more than a thousand local groups and individuals, so many people will be able to enjoy their talents as well.

"Pupils from schools across East Dunbartonshire have shown their artistic and poetic talents in equal measure and the judges had a difficult job in choosing a winner.

"I'd also like to thank the competition's sponsors Susan Frize at Milngavie Bookshop and Alan Oliver at Aroprint."
