Bishopbriggs business, John McGavigan Ltd, is looking forward to a bright future following management changes and investment.

Jo met with Commercial Director, Stephen Mathers at the company, which specialises in manufacturing plastic and electronic components for consumer and automotive markets.

The company experienced difficulty in 2009 when its US owner came into financial difficulties, but a management buy-out and now a recent multi-million pound investment is helping them break into Asian markets and build on existing research and development and production in East Dunbartonshire.

Commenting, Jo said:

“McGavigans makes a big contribution to the local economy, so it was a pleasure to see the skilled work continuing, creating high quality technical plastic panels that we see in everyday products from cars to domestic appliances and medical devices.

“From discussing the company’s opportunities and challenges with the management, it’s clear that McGavigans are looking to the long term andtowards a successful future, building on their almost 90-year history here in East Dunbartonshire.”

Commenting, Commercial Director Stephen Mathers said:

Our Company has a long history in the West of Scotland, and we will continue to invest in new products and processes that will help our facilities here in Bishopbriggs play an important part in the growth of our business globally. We also look to the Government to follow through their message and help support the country rebuild our manufacturing sector.”
