St Ninian’s pupils debate gender inequality with Jo

Local MP Jo Swinson recently took part in a Q&A session with Higher Modern Studies pupils at St Ninian’s High School in Kirkintilloch.

The pupils are currently studying gender inequalities as part of their course and Jo, as Minister for Women and Equalities, was the perfect candidate to talk to the students about the Government’s plan to tackle the gender pay gap and the disadvantages women face in the workplace.

Commenting after the visit, Jo said:

“I really enjoyed meeting the pupils at St Ninian’s and was impressed by their interest in the topic of gender inequality. Together we discussed why the gender pay gap remains so high and what action can be taken in the future to address inequality in the workplace and society.

“Visiting local schools is one of my favourite activities as East Dunbartonshire’s MP and, as ever, I received some tough questions! St Ninian’s gave me a lovely welcome and I look forward to my next visit to the school.”
