Waitrose looks set to engage with community – Jo

Jo Swinson MP for East Dunbartonshire met with Martin Gorman, Senior Development Surveyor for Waitrose and representatives from West of Scotland Football Club to discuss proposals for a Waitrose branch in Milngavie.

Jo was shown the early stages of Waitrose’s plans and told of their already active community consultation.

Commenting Jo said:

“I warmly welcome Waitrose’s stated commitment to listen to residents. Already they’ve met with a number of local groups such as We Like Milngavie and the Civic Trust and have plans to meet with others including the Milngavie Community Council. In these early days the level of communication is high and l’m happy they’re taking community consultation so seriously.”

“A lot of residents will be keen to see Waitrose in Milngavie but it will be important to assess what impact this could have on the shops operating in the village.”

“Waitrose will hold public consultations next month – both during the day and in the evening – where local people can have their say. I strongly urge residents to drop by and voice their views. Further details will be available at www.waitrosemilngavie.co.uk .”
