Adam Harley standing at a busy road where crossing patrollers were removed.

My name is Adam Harley. I’m a local campaigner and the Scottish Liberal Democrat candidate for Strathkelvin and Bearsden. I’ve been contacted by parents after crossing patrollers were removed from busy roads outside their children’s schools.

At St Helens Primary (Wester Cleddans Road) and Oxgang Primary (Waterside Road), patrollers have been replaced with traffic lights alone.

Children do not always wait for the green man, and drivers do not always stop at red lights. A trained crossing patroller actively protects children in real time - traffic lights do not.

The Petition’s Demand:
We call on East Dunbartonshire Council to reverse this decision and ensure that school crossing patrollers are present on busy roads outside primary schools, regardless of whether traffic lights are in place.

Sign if you agree children’s safety must come first.

Reinstate School Crossing Patrollers on Busy Roads

We call on East Dunbartonshire Council to reverse this decision and ensure that school crossing patrollers are present on busy roads outside primary schools, regardless of whether traffic lights are in place.
