Adam Harley
Your Scottish Liberal Democrat candidate for Strathkelvin & Bearsden
A strong local champion
Adam was born and raised here. He grew up in Bishopbriggs, where he now lives with his wife, young son, and the family dog Mack.
Adam’s career has spanned the arts, the charity sector, and community work.
At 18, he trained as an actor at RADA.
He went on to play a key part in the campaign to secure life-saving drugs for people with cystic fibrosis, has volunteered with groups supporting disadvantaged children, and mentored young people at risk of getting caught up in the criminal justice system. He has also run workshops in schools designed to help children improve their reading and writing.
Why Adam is standing
Becoming a dad sharpened Adam’s focus. He wants his son to grow up in a Scotland where families can rely on decent local services, where schools give every child the chance to thrive, and where the NHS is there when people need it.
“Being dad to a wee boy motivates me every single day. I want him, and every child growing up here, to have the chance to thrive, and not be held back by the failures of politics.”
“I’ve already knocked on thousands of doors in our communities to hear directly from people about what matters most to them. I’m already being asked for help – and I’m not even their MSP yet. That tells me how badly we need someone who will listen and fight their corner.”
Fighting for the NHS
“I know how much people are struggling right now and how long people are having to wait to get treatment on the NHS.” Adam says. “So many people feel like nothing works and that no one is on their side. I want to prove that things can be different. I’ll always fight for people here, because this is my home too.”
At the next election, Adam is standing to be Strathkelvin & Bearsden’s next MSP – determined to bring energy, compassion, and a fresh perspective to Holyrood.
